What is this Course?:
This course is accredited by internationally recognised examining body ITEC and VTCT, and will enable learners to successfully teach and assess students at 3rd Level. This course is designed for any 3rd level professional whom wishes to teach. This could include, but is not limited to, the Beauty and Hair industry, the Fitness and Sporting Industry, and any other Vocational subjects.
Entry Requirements:
Learners should have at least 2 working years experience in the industry they wish to teach in.
Qualifications such as ITEC, VTCT, CIBTAC, CIDESCO or FETAC are necessary and copies of certificates will be requested on entry.
Dates of Course:
This is set over 6 Sundays (1x Sunday Per Month)
Course Content:
There is no external exam for this course - it is all continuous assessment, this is completed with Lauren or Roisin on a monthly basis.
You will be required to submit an essay once a month on the topic that we cover in class. The topics we cover are:
UET1 Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
UET2 Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training
UV30762 Facilitate Learning and Development in Groups
UV30761 Facilitate Learning and Development for Individuals
UET5 Understanding assessment in education and training
UV30563 Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
You will also need to complete 30 hours of teacher shadowing at a college of your choice (it can be here if you wish or elsewhere). This must be signed by the tutor you are shadowing each day.

€1500 inclusive of exam fees and a physical textbook and notes

Course Content and Assessment Details:
This course will cover all of topics below:
Understanding the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
Facilitate learning and development for individuals
Facilitate learning and development for groups
Understanding assessment in education and training
Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
Students will all be required to have access to a laptop, internet and a printer for essays and portfolio work.
This course is internally assessed by your course co-ordinator and there are no external exam papers (only in-house exams) an external examiner from ITEC will assess portfolios etc.
Students will be required to micro teach submitted online and also obtain 30 hours of teaching observations. You can request to do these at a local vocational centre or we can offer this to you at Lauren Malone Academy.
